Walmart partners with Facebook to improve local internet marketing exposure

 

As a small business it is important that local consumers find you. The internet, more than ever is the new frontier to connect with potential customers. This is even more evident with a new partnership with Walmart and Facebook.

With Black Friday just around the corner, one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Walmart is partnering with Facebook to create individual Facebook pages for each of its more than 3,500 stores. These pages will be designed to allow local customers to interact with their local store. People will be able to get information on anything from new products to discount offers. The retailer realizes the importance of developing deeper relationships with its customers and acknowledges the ability of the social network to bridge this divide.  According to executive vice-president Stephen Quinn, “This addresses out ‘next generation’ customers who are using a lot of social media.” This is one of the moves the giant retailer is making to address is the nine straight quarters of revenue decline.

Facebook currently claims to have more than 800 million users and more than 600,000 users join daily. Fifty percent of these people will follow a brand. Are they following yours? Local internet marketing is becoming an ever more popular method of reaching customers and Facebook, although it’s the 800 lb. Gorilla, it’s just the tip of the iceberg in your ongoing social media and local internet marketing campaign.
